L.O. - 1. Know about different intervals and pitches.
- Major - When the upper note is found in the major scale beginning on the lower note the interval is called major or perfect.
- Minor - a major interval which has been made smaller by a half-step
- Perfect, Perfect intervals are so-called because they were traditionally considered perfectly consonant
- Augmented - Is a semi-tone higher than the note given.
- Diminished - Is a semi-tone lower than the note given.
- Simple - Is something like a 7th, which is between the octave.
- Compound - Is something lika a thirteenth, which is outside of the octave.
- Pitches, Pitch is a perceptual property that allows the ordering of sounds on a frequency-related scale.
- Tones, The interval of a major second in the diatonic scale; a whole step.
- Semi-tones, An interval equal to a half tone in the standard diatonic scale. Also called half step, halftone.
- Degrees of the scale, In music theory, a scale degree is the name given to a particular note of a scale to specify its position relative to the tonic (the main note of the scale). The tonic is considered to be the first degree of the scale, from which each octave is assumed to begin.
